YOUTH
Upcoming April Tatiana de Pahlen, Elizabeth Gilpin, Carolina Cavalli and Sofia de Pahlen will present “YOUTH”. A photography book fully curated from blogosphere content. A book about Generation Y – that privileges imagining over seeing, materialized on paper.
The book shows work of young, promising newcomers, not only images, short text aswell. The work is real, defines an other interpatation of aesthetics and attention. A few years ago, blogs were not taken seriously and were labeled second hand media. Nowerdays blogs feed you with the latest news and know how. Still, a shout in the universe like the www sometimes remains quiet, but through a book like YOUTH the thoughts and captures of a new quiet yet powerfull generation are being materialized.
The book is a collection of works by a group of young photographers. Among them, one of the photographers curated by pulp collectors made it into YOUTH aswell. Her work is used for the cover and several times in the book itself.
We were moved by the words of Mariuccia Casadio about generation Y mentioned in the book. “A generation that has lost it’s voice and trasformed words into decorative elements that can be tattooed onto raw skin. They capture, they share, solipsistic and narcissistic, a generation that observes and records itself obsessively… during a journey that pays tribute to a condition that is dictated by media aesthetics, by the surface of things.”
Youth is published to affirm the power of a new generation’s creative possibilities. These shouts in the universe will not stay unknown, not even in the tangible world.
